Speech and Language Activities for Christmas and New Year

This year is getting to its end, but even holidays are a great opportunity to stimulate communication, speech and language activities for children and adults. In order to help your children keep stimulating their skills, we have compilated the following activities, starting with two Christmas ones:

  • Candy Cane Therapy Craft. Each student start with a paper candy cane, and after each turn or answer, the student receives a red strip of paper, until all ten of his or her strips have been earned. The student can then glue one red stripe onto his or her candy cane for each of the next ten turns. Read more information about the rules here and download the materials here.
  • Roll a Christmas Sentence. A series of dice for noun, verb, and adverb to be rolled over the mat for making sentences. Download these materials here.

New Year activities can be very engaging as well, as you can see below:

  • New Year resolutions’ conversation. This simple activity can stimulate important skills and capabilities such as verbal tenses, pragmatics, oral language retelling, fluency and articulation.
  • Recalling the year. Past events from 2021 can be narrated, with the exploration of the past tense and stimulate memory skills. Questions such as “Which was the most interesting place you visited in 2021?” or “What was the most fun skill you learned this year?”.
