Celebrating Speak Up's One Year Anniversary!

Superficial conversations are mundane. Deep and meaningful conversations are interesting but are rare these days. How often do we ask someone how they are and the answer is on the autopilot mode "Good, thank you!".

A year ago, I said hi to a stranger on the train, and they responded with a "Hi!". That got me intrigued. What's their name? Where are they from? What life experiences have they been through? What makes them different than everyone else?

And that's how Speak Up was born. The intention was to empower others and help improve their confidence by facing the fear of public speaking, and at the same time inspiring others through their experience. We also learn to be better listeners.

One year on and Speak Up is going strong. Thank you for your support. We now have over 80 members.

The world definitely needs more leaders. Do you want to inspire and be inspired? Have you got a special message that you want to deliver to the world? What makes you angry: poverty, hunger, war? What are you passionate about? What change do you want to see in this world? Would you like to meet other like-minded people, share your experience and at the same time, practice your public speaking and skills and increase your confidence?

If your answer is YES to the above questions, then I'm honoured to invite you to join us at our monthly event at Speakable. We meet here at 7 PM, every second Thursday of the month. Upcoming events will be updated regularly on our Speak Up Page. Ask us how to join as a member. Membership is free. The meetings run for 2 hours. They include public speaking activities, listening roles and speeches given by group members and guest speakers.

How does it work?

Each group member will be allocated a role (listening and/or speaking) prior to a meeting. Speakers will prepare and give a 6 minute talk about a topic that they are passionate about. At the meeting, other Speak Up members will also have the opportunity to share inspiring messages and ideas.

What do you gain from Speak Up?

To inspire and be inspired

To be a better listener

To network with other awesome human beings

To make a contribution: Each person who attends an event will donate $10. The total will be saved towards helping Speakable build a school in Cambodia.

Guests are always welcome.
