The whole world has been facing an unexpected viral outbreak, whose symptoms delay being perceived, but the ability to spread is simply frightening. COVID-19, also called Coronavirus, is affecting many people’s lives in a wide range of aspects, which includes new daily habits for Australians living both in metropolitan and regional areas.

Among the many instructions the Department of Health provide and Speakable team is already following, check out these simple gestures which make a huge difference for this situation:

  • covering coughs, sneezes and yawns with the elbow or a tissue
  • disposing of tissues properly
  • washing hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
  • using alcohol-based hand sanitisers
  • cleaning and disinfecting surfaces
  • if sick, avoiding physical contact with others and staying more than 1.5 metres away from people
  • cleaning and sanitising frequently used objects such as mobiles, keys and wallets
  • if you are well, you do not need to wear a surgical mask
  • consider if large gatherings can be rescheduled, staggered or cancelled
